Italy
I’m back from Italy and ready to give you all the run down on my itinerary! I won’t bore you with the historic sites we visited and where we ate every day - Italy is a place where you can easily figure that out on your own, and every place is super charming. The challenge for me planning this trip was trying to figure out which part of Italy to even go to! There is still so much to see but we ended up choosing Rome for the history and city vibes, and Positano for relaxation by the water.
It took me a month or so but I was able to find a really amazing Airbnb and VRBO for a great cost in both locations. Let’s get started shall we!
Rome: It was super important for me to be walking distance from historic sites (in Rome an Uber will take twice as long as walking - not worth it IMO), have great views from my place (ideally a balcony), and to have an ample amount of space to relax at the end of a long day. There is nothing I hate more than a SUPER SMALL hotel room where my husband is pooping 2 inches away from me. No thanks. That being said, the hotels I WAS looking at were upwards of $350/night- they were walking distance from sites but lacked the views and had absolutely no space. I searched endlessly through Expedia and finally came across the most beautiful stay- 2 bedrooms, a HUGE bathroom, and really charming views from the windows. It was a little over $200/night, and the host was excellent. I highly recommend this place: LINK TO ROME STAY.

Positano: Everyone knows the picture perfect view of Positano where you see the big beautiful mountains with colorful little homes trickling down. I’m here to tell you that beautiful view will cost you $1000/night from a dinky little hotel room. I was able to find a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom place WITH that view for $1000 total (we stayed for 5 nights honey). Did we even use that much space? No LOL but listen if it’s only going to cost me $200/night with a private balcony + dream views, sign me up! LINK TO POSITANO STAY.
If you’re wondering how we got from Rome to Positano- the easiest way was to take a bullet train from Rome to Salerno and then we grabbed a taxi to take us from Salerno to our stay in Positano. The total travel time was about 4 hours.
Also keep in mind that Airbnb and VRBO prices fluctuate depending on what time of year it is. If you feel the price could be better- just message the host! More often than not, the host will work with you.
